Each state post it's gun laws on the Internet and at every court house within the state. What more do you want them to do? I'm not a fan of defending the govt but when they make their laws VERY easily available to anyone I would say that, that state has fulfilled it's side of the deal.

I do understand what you're saying about having to know all the gun laws for all 50 states, but right now the burden is on the "civilian" to know all the gun laws in all 50 states. Seems like the burden should be on the other foot, in my opinion.

As with any law, though, ignorance does not equal innocence.

Maybe you just need a map to stick on your dash, kind of like this one for speed limits that vary state-by-state (or in the case of Tejas, county-by-county.) [image is too big. If you open in a new window you can see the rest of it, including the key.]

Is it any different than what you are already doing? You can't ticket someone in California for something that their car is legal with in their resident/registered state can you? Why are the cars contents any different?

Amendment 2 listed before Amendment 10. Therefore whole debate SHOULD be terminated since your right in any state "shall not be infringed". Hopefully, there will be more and broader decisions following Macdonald and Heller.

I don't understand your position at all, at. You are such a vociferous proponent of state's rights, and now you want either a national policy to override state's laws, or simply no policy whatsoever, but somehow, under some unstated aegis, the states have no ability to enforce their own laws within their own jursidiction.!

G-jim. I am offering a defense of assa here (tho he is most capable of his own rebuttal). State's rights Amedn 10), according to Constitution, are applicable to everything not specifically covered under national policy of the Bill of Rights preceding A10. Thus you can call Obama a **##$ blankety blank in any state, and be covered not by state law but rather 1 Amend; plead the 5th in any state's court; bed down any suypermodel (Amend 3) etc. So why should not our 2nd Amendment rights not be uniform across all states?

Forgot Amendment 3 hasn't been changed yet, and currently nobody cares about it, so I thought supermodel provision would be a better use of 3rd Amendment!

Baysider, I'm actually on your side but playing devils advocate. There isn't a single state that actually stops someone from owning a firearm. Some states dictate what kind of firearms you can have more than others of course theoretically because the voters in that state want it that way but owning a gun is still legal in all 50 states. So in the eyes on some people the 2nd amendment has not been infringed.
