Up here, it's all about water temp. The fish will bite bait anytime the water is 45-55 degrees. Anything outside if that range is hardware water.

Our water don't hit those temps until December.

No, Idea... only person I've ever seen eat a gizzard is my grandpa.

All the grocery stores here sell them. Can't stand gizzards though. Fuckin' nasty.

I feel bad for those who have never had them. When cleaned and brined, goose and turkey gizzards aren't bad either.

We don't brine them, but Sweet Chereaux makes kick-ass goose (and duck) gizzard (and heart) gumbo and stews. During the era when we always hosted her extended family's Christmas dinner, the g-g-gumbo was one of the standard entries. And the year I slipped up and didn't set enough aside to uphold that tradition, her uncle Ray pretty much literally quit speaking to me until amends were made the following Christmas.

You guys eat that up there? Delicious. Next time, chop up some gizzards into quarters, and dump about a cup and a half in the dressing with the oysters. Makes it a meal better than the turkey.

ha!

there was three factors that pushed me to the browning over the ruger. 1 drop free mags, 2 easier to break down, 3 the ruger in the same price range didnt have removable grips and felt like i was holding a 1x4. i will give the browning about 500rds. if it isnt reliable then, down the road it goes.

Yes, I quoted myself.

Put another 3 mag through today to get the sights on. This was my best 10 shot group at 10yds.
