I've always liked stuff that moves around 1500fps. Any faster or slower I'm screwed up for half the hunt.lol

Shotshell speeds (within reason) to me is more of a preference than a fact. I like premium, smaller shot going about 1200-1250 fps for ducks anyways. Then again I'm not taking shots over 30 yards. It is more than sufficient.

Yeah, I just use what I know and have tested out over the years. I like them because they work great for ducks and geese alike. Shit hits hard and kill birds so hell with it I'm gonna stick with what I know.

It's all in what makes you mentally happy/satisfied.

How many grains are you using in each load and how fast approximately is it going?

35 grains.
It's a load Jehler gave me. I think it's around 1400-1500.

35 grains and a 209 primer 1470, 36 grains and a cci 209m and it's 1520ish. I have been using 35 grains, a fiochi 616 primer and sealing my crimps with aquaseal and getting 1490

Why don't you use something other than steel?

Too damn expensive and lead is illegal. I don't have an issue killing with steel if I can hit them.

Tungsten would be pure hell on ducks in #6 shot going about 1200-1250 fps.

7.5's are way better

That's mostly true. But I've shot some shells at paper that had holes at 30 yards a goose could get through no problem. Sometimes it is the shells unless you're inside 20 yards. But it's usually the shooter...which it is for me.

I only shoot ducks with their wings cupped and their feet down. Don't have to worry about lead a whole lot. If fly swatters had longer handles, I wouldn't even need a shotgun. I just shoot um in the lips.

Now it's december, shit is frozen up in most places and ducks are getting scarce so that means trying to find geese.
