I know, I live in a different world, where there is still public land, that the public is allowed to access. Doesn't hurt that I see deer in my yard and elk up on the hill behind the place.

My plan now is ducks in the am, deer in the evenings - and the turkeys are roosting 40' from the house.

I'm not rich like Dan but I am fortunate to live where I do. I have all the hunting and fishing I need within minutes of my front door and that cuts down on cost.

I bought a new dog collar that was on clearance. But I'm not taking a picture. You may be able to see it in the picture of his nuts I posted earlier.

I'm sure you can come up with something to get you put on "paid administrative leave" for 3 1/2 months. Then prove what you did was okay once duck season is over, right? Maybe make a deal with your pot growing neighbor to complain you stole his plants but, didn't turn them in to the property room(closet or whatever). Then, at the end of January he goes in and tells IA he forgot he smoked it all.

107 days of solid back to back duck days and getting a paycheck, what more can a guy hope for?

I hunted the entire month of January without having to go to work. Can't imagine a whole season.

Another thing that to me I choose big game over birds is the simple fact that I have land. Decent land to hunt on that's border on three sides of back land national forest that not too many people can access and one side bordered by an elk haven of a huge ranch where elk are continually being pushed into us. That in it self makes me hunt hard for deer and elk. I don't bring a lot of people on either. What ends of happening is they shoot a little dinker off the side of the road. I'm picky when it comes to deer. I won't shoot anything below a 3 point unless the seasons almost done. Same goes for does. I don't shoot the first one I see, I hunt for a nice one that will clock in close to 250. Elk are elk, first one I see is the first one down. Doesn't matter if its a cow or a big bull.

If you would shoot it "when the season's almost done", then you should shoot it on Day One, also.
