Pretty sure it's only like that while you are in high school, not when you have a kid whose in high school, but I don't rightly know.

I missed a few days of duck season when my stepson played basketball as well, but as long as he wanted to play, it was worth giving up the hunting time. Halfway through his first season, he decided that he would rather hunt and fish than play ball (with no encouragement from me), so it worked out fine. Support what makes him happy Red, even if it means missing a few days of hunting. The seasons will come and go, but youth slips away faster than you know, so relish it while you can

oh ya man. Like I said, when we're in basketball mode it's crazy in our house. Unfortunately we're in hunting mode at the same time!

Damn you started early.
I was a three sport athlete and got plenty of hunting in with my dad and brother. Can't hunt on Sunday in Va, so it was Saturday only and before or after practice during thanksgiving and Christmas break.
Just wait til he gets a girlfriend. You'll really drop down on the list of priorities then.

Kind of a downer really.

But my next youngest boy, Jack, is only 6 and has a few years to go to be ready. Something to look forward too I guess

good pics red. Super solid. tough quandary. Pull him out of a few practices/games when your instincts are buzzing like you know its going to be a great hunt and its just practice or a low rival. I can remember my dad pulling me out of school by total surprise for opening baseball games and shit. never forget those spurr of the moment dad moments. still a win win for ya no matter what.

When I first started hunting in California, the state had bounties on Crows (.25), Magpies (.15) Mountain lions ($75) and a few other animals as well. Time passes and things change. The only animal that was protected then was the Unicorn.
