I was in high school, and my sister was in college. One night I was riding in the car with my mom, we were riding up to my sister's school to help her move or something.

As we were going down the road I was leaning against the passenger window just sort of staring up into the night sky. I noticed a very bright light just off the horizon that was larger than any of the other stars that night. It was big enough and bright enough that it caught my attention and I had been staring at it for a couple of minutes, sort of intrigued by it's uniqueness.

I was just getting ready to mention it to my mom when it exploded in a brilliant flash of light and almost instantly travelled all the way across the sky to the opposite horizon.

My mom hollered and hit the brakes, I mean the flash lit up the night like the middle of the day. She hadn't seen the ball of light, and by the time I tried to point it out to her it was gone.

We started calling folks to see if anyone else had seen it, turns out several in the area had and had called police, etc reporting the strange ball of light and/or terrific flash of light that night. Like I said, it was eventually dismissed as the northern lights.

It definitely was not the northern lights.

Few things will make you so quickly look like a girl as stepping barefoot on a small ray or flatfish. Happens quite a bit clamming. I swear, I've almost hit my chin with my knees several times, while in waist deep water.

And tits, I believe you.

Never heard of willow-o-wisp, could be the same thing. I'm talking about phosphorescent fungi that glows an eerie, alienesque green at night.

My parents and I were sitting in the backyard and saw one when I was around 14. Just a bright light, sort of like an airplane landing light. Only it wasn't moving, and then it moved along the horizon at what would've had to be about 6,000 mph and then instantly stopped again. Did this three times at different heights, then just disappeared.

Maybe. The will-o-the-wisp I've seen always looks more yellowish, like seeing a small flashlight way off coming through the woods. But if you walk towards it to try and find it, you never will. Just end up lost. Could be the same thing.
