And that mess it's sitting in is an (in progress) new garage for fishing and hunting stuff including the boat.

Yep! I have you to thank for that purchase! I was expecting the $15 based on what you wrote in the "jerking it" thread, and they had them on clearance...right before duck season...not real bright!

That was actually the first time I stepped foot in an Academy. I had to go into the city anyway, and it was between my PT and an errand I had to run...boom!
I was pleasantly surprised by their inventory and their prices. Their reloading supplies sucked, but their loaded ammo selection beats Cabela's by a long shot!
I'll be going back...

Good deal! I hope you're happy with it. I don't have an academy store near me, but they run good deals online.

They just recently built one in town...Maybe two??
Seems like a flooded market to me. Within 20 miles, there's 3-4 Dicks,2 Bass Pros, Cabela's, Roger's is maybe 30 miles, and now 2? Academy Sports???

I spent an ass load of money in Cabela's when they opened here, but now I can go in there and wander around for 30 minutes and walk out empty handed! Spoiled I guess...
I'm not a good shopper though. I'd much rather just order something...

I'm holding out for a Whiz Bang plucker. Well, I'm actually holding out for a friend to build one I can use.

Have you tried one like it? I have one and can't say I'm really a fan of it. If you had it set up to a motor instead of a drill I'd like it better. Last year started having problems of the drill chuck opening up just enough to have to stop and tightened it and the drill ended up getting thrown and quit using it. Worked good at first but has always needed to be tinkered with to keep it going.

I've got a few dozen of those EAllen goldeneyes and they'll really pull birds. Only problem is you have to be careful not to breal the bills off of them.

A few dozen? Holy molly, WFM! I couldn't imagine spending that kind of money on decoys.

I've been working on some fishing tackle in my shop at the marina today. Here's some of the E.Allens goldeneyes that are sitting there. Believe me, I did not pay a lot of money for them. Pulled an Assa (bartered) with a guy who owed me some money.

Do you see big bunches of goldeneyes? We'd have some on the Ohio at seasons end - and later, but always in small, family sized, groups. Seemed they were less gregarious than most other ducks. Maybe just not many traveling through that area, though.

If it's been a cold winter with lots of ice up north of us, we will get some "whistlers" showing up in January which gives us a month or so whack at them Rick.
