HaHa, I had one as a kid too....got me into trouble more than once.

Did you brand the families livestock as well?

Boat's coming along nicely Red. Your boy is gonna appreciate having someone behind him to scull while he shoots all of the birds from up forward.

Hey Aaron, put some cup holders in the front. I'll come hunt with you. What's the weight limit on that thing?

i have no doubt sculling with you would require cup holders.

So what's the max weight it will carry? Trying to figure out how much beer will fit in the boat? Is there enough room to set up a bar?

Then glue the rings you cut out of the slip coupling on, one on the inside, one on the outside. You should be able to play with it a little, to see just how much you need to clamp the boot onto, and then cut the pipe a little extra, to allow for the "rings" you cut. No way that thing would move, between the 5200 sealing it and the two "rings" glued on either side "clamping" it in.

The only downside is that you'll need to buy a 10' section of 4" pipe, instead of just the coupling you have, unless you know somebody that has a foot or so of it laying around. But it's still what I'd do, because it will be much more secure.
i think I get what you're saying. But if I understand you correctly it wouldn't quite work cause we line the inside of the hole with leather so we don't bang up the oar

I though oars were made for banging in the oar hole?

Keep in mind that the longer the thru-hull the less movement available with the oar.

With what I was talking about, he could cut a 2" piece of pipe, and glue a 3/4" piece of the coupling on either side, and that fucker wouldn't move at all. Whole thing would only be 2" long.

The boot slides over one end, then tightened with a clamp like in the picture below. Question is I need to build a lip around the outside edge of the flange so the clamp doesn't slip. Lips needs to be maybe 1/8" to 1/4". Thought I'm leaning on 1/8".

Currently our idea is to cut small strips of fiber cloth and glass it til it's the desired depth. Which to me sounds like a major messy pain in the ass.

Any other ideas y'all can think of?

One thought was to find another PVC coupling or cap maybe and trim the end off to slide over the outside of the flange and just glue it on
Here's my idea Red. Go to this website and sign up. There are all kinds of older boat makers and duck hunters that will have the best answer, not to dis anyone heres' idea but, these guys have experience and lots of it.

Actually Joel, those things need quite a bit of ballast forward to keep the front of the boat low. You might even need to add say a bag of ice, just for good measure.
