Looking to get a gopro but there are so many choices. I just want to be able to take video. Was looking at an original Hero for $129. What do you guys know/recommend? Should I be looking at one of the newer ones?

I got a Hero 3+ from the wife and children for Christmas and haven't had a chance to film much at the blind due to the lack of ducks this year. I did shoot one clip of a working single with the head mounted gear down to harvest and it came out pretty good. In most gopro footage I've seen the issue I had was that all birds looked far out even over the decoys. I have mine set on the narrowest view possible as I was told this would help with this issue. I did notice that the original shot from the camera when reviewed didn't have this issue but when edited and uploaded to the target was a little harder to find.
I'll play with it some more this season.

I've edited the original down to this short clip, and I can tell there is a difference in quality when watching the original from my desktop and watching this on youtube . I may have a lot of learning to do.....

Capt do you have facebook? I have an original Go Pro and I have several videos I have ducks in a field, divers in a layout boat, and some goose hunts you could see. I like the original and have the head strap for it the videos turn out pretty good.

$130 bucks for an original model seems a bit steep. Is that a used price? The original one is pretty out dated by now.

Yeah but didn't you get yours real cheap from a sketchy guy in a rape van at a truck stop?

Yup $100 for a Hero 2 full of accessories. When someone says to you first thing "you got the money?" Something is sketchy.

Probably. It came with an SD card and I told myself that if the card had pictures on it of another family and not the guy who sold it to me I would inform the police. But it was cleared so there is no way to know for sure, I like to just assume he had Aspergers and has zero social skills.

Caveat Emptor...............a guy that worked for me a few years ago was taking his wife and kids out to dinner one night during the week. He was approached by a guy in the parking lot that had a nice high dollar video camera, still in the package, and gave him the usual hard luck story, and offered it to him for $100. He really didn't want to blow $100 but couldn't stand to pass it up either, and knew that it had to be hot. Paid for it and the guy split, and as he was taking it out of the package, was amazed at how light it was..........until he opened it up and realized that it was just the casing, no guts, and apparently just a non-working store model for show

I have a story kind of like that too.

Back in 2008 my roommate in California came back to the barracks one day excited as he could be about how he just got a 42" flat screen TV for the room for like $350!!! Told me to come help him carry it up. As soon as I saw it I knew something was off, it wasn't in a box but was bubble wrapped with way more bubble wrap than it needed. As soon as we cut open the bubble wrap turned out to be a piece of plywood painted black with bricks clued to the back and black duct tape used to give it the right shape and the bricks for the weight.

Remember how I said it looked off to me? Yea the guy that made it measured it out to be a 42" TV from side to side. TV's are measured corner to corner... it was way too long and narrow to be a real TV but my dumb ass roommate didn't pick up on that.

Man I have a story like that from this week. My wife's little brother got hit with the white van speaker scam. Bought an off brand projector and screen for $700. He won't believe me that he got ripped off either. Google the scam. What he described happened was point on with the scam.

That is exactly the scam my roommate fell for.

My brother in law actually got the projector and screen and it actually works well but they tried to tell him it was worth $5,000 and they had someone back out they were going to install it for... They would "be in big trouble if they showed back
up at the warehouse with any leftover inventory."
I'm gona set it up and watch some georgia bulldogs football on it this fall.

Had some guys try and pull that exact same scam. Funny thing was they were trying to sell a screen I made.

Haha! I'm still wondering how much his roommate made when he sold it.

Burning anything at a party equals a good time. Friends standing on a burning couch brings back good memories..
