Bought 3 (THREE) 1 x 12 x 6' pine boards. Sounds pretty simple right?
I'm picky about wood and will go thru a pile to find the good ones and guys I had to move a lot of wood to find 3 nice common boards. Sure I could buy clear pine for 3 or 4 times as much. Building shims for feeding bees. Think little skinny box that's 1.5 inches tall and 20 x 16 & 3/8.
So I haul my boards up to the contractors desk. (I'm still a general contractor...will be til I die)
There were 5 people there jabbering away and the smell of coffee was strong.
Lady sets her cup down and steps over to the register.
First she asked me to tell her how many. That set me off for some reason.
So I fanned out the boards like cards and asked loudly..."how many is this?!?"
The staff all looked at me funny and stood there.
I said "three---nah ah ah---THREE boards to build with NAH AH AH" (I am Count Von Count sometimes)
Ok
So she wants me to pick up the board so she can scan the sticker on the end. Fine.
Then she wanted me to pick them ALL up one at a time so she can scan them individually.
By that time a man had walked around the desk so I made him do it. Was looking him right in the eye and asked, "can't you just do it all for HER?" (dead serious)
I told her to her face that she needs to find another job somewhere that's not a lumberyard because wood is heavy and so are concrete blocks. Do I have to go get a cart load and show you?
Something about the helpless female cashier (Hispanic woman built like a GMC truck) at a lumberyard drove me past some line and bdah bduhhh tck tck bdwah.

Now how much you want to bet she's voting for cankles so she can get equal pay AND $15 minimum wage and she'll still play the helpless woman card? It took two men to assist her to ring up three boards, take the cash, and give me a receipt.
WTF?
My aunt is a "libber". Quit opening doors for her when I was 12 or 13 because "you're equal to any man so open your own doors". Women want to be treated like women sometimes? (but equal to men)
I just can't get it.
It will take me 5 years to live this post down and I know it. Sort of like TK's buddy and burger king. sigh...it's all right. Enjoy.
