Date: 1/28/2020
Time: quick morning hunt before work
Location: local river
Cloud Cover: heavy. socked in with fog made the boat ride quite perilous. Would have turned around halfway to the spot but didn't feel i'd be any safer navigating back to the ramp. Fog broke a little for an hour or so then went right back to heavy as we headed back to the ramp.
Wind Direction and Velocity: nil to light northerly
Temperature: 35
Moon phase: couldn't see it for the fog
Special Notes: Waterfowl Activity: Saw maybe 20-25 wood ducks through the fog. I assume there were more buzzing around that we couldn't see.
Waterfowl Responsiveness: What could see the spread came pretty.
Hunters: 2. Took my boss on his first ever duck hunt. He was questioning my sanity as was I on the boat ride. These "before work" hunts usually put me in the office between 830 or 9, so i figured if I wanted to continue getting by with that it'd be a good idea to invite him. I know which side my bread is buttered on. He's a deer/dove/turkey hunter, but not a duck hunter. Afraid I might have started something though, as he's already mentioned he wouldn't mind going again before season goes out Friday, which is fine by me.
Guns:Malfunctions: None come to mind
Dog(s): Legh behaved herself.
Special Equipment: Been using the walkers game ear digital ear plugs since Christmas and am fairly satisfied with them. Only complaints are: calling sounds weird, but i'm sure i can fix that with practice recording myself. it picks up road noise from a mile away like the car is about to run over you.
Curses: None
Kudos: Fun to see someone who's 20+ years my senior light up like a kid when he killed his first duck
Birds By Species: 2 wood ducks. Had a pair come in well after shooting light but still tough to see below the treeline due to the fog. I killed the one on my side and watched as Al whiffed 3 times on the other. He redeemed himself on the next single, as he dropped it with his first shot.

Legh contemplating risking an arse whipping for another taste... Cropped the boss out as I haven't asked his permission to post his face online, but he was grinning ear to ear.
Lagniappe: Was a breath of fresh air to see someone kill their first duck. I don't know how long it's been since I have witnessed that.
