We wanted a cast iron griddle for the new grill.
For a little over $15 this Ozark trail one is perfect.
The right size.
Right price.
It was sort of rough.
Ten minutes scraping it with a brick cures that.
It's slick.

Been processing some bees wax.

If you get into it like me you end up with 10 pound hunks stacked on a shelf.
Every so often I toss one on the concrete floor and break it in pieces.
This is the end of the process.
Resized_20220718_044356.jpeg

You might not know it but there are products and manufacturing processes that can not be done without bees wax. Don't ask me to list one.

Sno-seal may be one on the list?
In other news, I’m off call out duty in 49 minutes. Happy times.

Nah but that's true.
I'm thinking manufacture of semiconductors kind of technology. I forget but there's something very important we take for granted that it takes bees wax to make.
This is not a test just a huge Betty brain fart.

No problem. Try it on vanilla ice cream.
We just pulled 4 more full supers. The empties I've been putting back are filling up to my surprise. 8-)
The mediocre crop just turned good.
I need all I can to get to Arkansas.
This year is one of them endless honey flow years but we had a bump in late June and early July. It got very dry.
Bee hives are looking like it spring still. Tons of young bees.

Bacon and eggs is fun to cook on one of these.
Wish I'd gotten one 40 years ago.
Resized_20220720_050208.jpeg

This does a neat trick.
If I mash the bacon down with a spatula it sticks and lays flat. When I did it the first time I uttered "I'll be damn".
Fits right over both burners.

DE gametime.
Free joint to whoever sights the QP.

The Hoosier cabinet has a feature I'd like you all to notice but first spot the qp. (It's legal here)

Now look at the wheel on the kitchen pantry where food is stored. Interesting detail right there.
Resized_20220720_051518.jpeg

That white powder is DE. Before I die I'm gunna teach you about Killin bugs. Over 100 years ago some smart Indiana guy figured out how to keep bugs out of the bread box.

Yesterday i did this among other things.
We pulled honey, extracted it, and my capping tub got full so I processed the wax.
It adds up obviously.
At $8/pound it's not exactly gold but to the bees it is.
I recycle my wax back into hives.

Dayum.
Last night I researched E-Bikes and this morning one is just sitting there unguarded. This is a bad place to leave it.
Temptation much?
Yes.
Give me an excuse.
I do not like the owner one bitty bit but I respect his property. Other people won't let this go.

Yeah. They're mildly blue.

My flock.
Laying hens 5. They're 13 months old now.
I've got 5 more in that tractor. Am afraid to mix them.
They may kill each other.
Soon I'll combine them..the younger birds are only about 4 or 5 months old.

What do you call a pickled egg?

For me, it's actually beet eggs, but we always just called them pickled eggs. I make them a few times a year.

And they look delicious.

I believe they are probably a Pennsylvania Dutch thing. The only way to make a proper pickled egg.

It's 90F.
Went thru some hives. They're all full of nectar again.
This one...we pulled them, emptied, and put them back around two or three weeks ago. Those three boxes are full but not ripe and capped yet.
That's like $500. Sweet!
Resized_20220720_145039.jpeg

It really does pay to be a honey bee pimp with a couple million girls working the street. 8-)
Clover is still putting out nectar. Usually it's done way back 3 weeks ago..unusual
