Hope so.
This may blow your minds it does mine. A half gallon jar of honey is a mighty impressive thing. Only we do that.
Out of desperation to fill a honey order we HAD to order this glass online from Michael's of all places.
$4 each. The customers toss them into the trash.
(Face slap)

We have a couple people that have us re-fill theirs.
Rumor going around that the usda may ban canning lids. I doubt that but hey...let's go Brandon.

Usually he's right there with me when I feed quail to catch escapees. Today was different.
Look at his eyes at the end.
He's ripped. "Where's the boat boss?"

It's amazing that he doesn't just gulp them quail down. Gives them back un-harmed.

Not a sub-freezing opener.
Pretty typical.
Not sure about you all but my best hunting happens when it's snowy and I have to break ice and slide it around.

Anotherone: "ice?"
What's cooler than cool?

I'm betting that Elliot will get into hunting.
He's like "mini-me".
Now they have a sister named Juniper?
June is not a bad name for a girl.

June-bug.

Random thought.
In 1985 we both worked at Carle Hospital.
Their maternity benefit included FREE DELIVERY AND A STEAK DINNER TOO.
We didn't pay a penny for the birth of our child.
Can only imagine the cost today.
Not free. 8-)

She ate plenty of mallard duck gumbo.
Luckily I can provide the ducks.
They all eat lots of barbecue and gumbo but Elliott.
He's really into fruit. Figure he will outgrow that.
Maybe get wife to make gumbo this weekend.

One of the he-men with female tendencies complained.

My dog sleeps like that. He is very comfortable around us.

Tomorrow is my opener.
My favorite honey customer will be coming around Dec 3rd to pick up a years supply.
Last time we traded duck calls that he made for me.
This time I think he'll just want to pay.
Am awful lucky to have a few friends in ducky places.
Tomorrow it begins.
Yippee.

Moving the boat can be impossible once it snows or gets really muddy.

The new deere would probably be better but I got used to using a ztr. My old deere wouldn't start in winter hardly.
Getting old makes you do things like use a mower to move the boat.

All that's left is make coffee and maybe put some snacks in. It's all in there. Blind, dog stand, 3 dozen decoys, spinner and pole, and a squirting duck ass thing.
Battery is fully charged. Full tank of gas.
Lights work.

What could possibly go wrong?
I'm betting tomorrow is a DNS but I have to actually go and see. Haven't killed a duck on opening day since the 1900s.

There are cameras all over the front of the house in plain sight. They look but know they're being watched.
So far that works.

If I have a "guest" they have to sort of lay on top of the decoys. That's how they all do it in the woods. It's best to get your head low.

This is stupid.
Arrived at 4am. 5 trucks and 4 boats already launched.
I put in and people with them damn little hobbit boats with tiny mud motors show up. A fleet of them.
The bright side: they all went to the mud flat they'll chase the birds my way. There has to be around 30 of us all packed into one section of lake.
Should have went to the possum cove. Sigh..I can dns here just as well.

The lake has dropped a lot. Competition is in the gooze.
I hunt on a sandy bottom fuck that gooze crap.
They give me funny looks and ask why I hunt over here...
I've watched the ducks here for 40+ years and used to wonder why the old guy that hunted in this spot before me. 1. Sun at your back.
2. Hard bottoms
3. Ducks land here a lot. That old guy probably figured it out.
