According to genetics the human population has crashed to less than 3000 individuals not less than six times.
That little fact is disturbing.

I fell off into an internet rabbit hole reading about Toba the super volcano that erupted around 70,000 BC. Says humans were reduced to like 40 breeding pairs, holy shit that’s scary.

Breeding pairs. .lol

I was 'shipped off to Alaska " my junior year in high school. I went to this really super nice school in Fairbanks. Walking the halls I kept running into doppelgangers of people I went to school with here in Champaign.
I surmised that we're all related and closer than we can imagine. We really are all cousins.

Supposedly lots of us are related to a Mongolian. I don’t feel Mongolian, but do order Mongolian beef at the Chinese joint.

Ever been to an Aldi store?
This is fairly accurate.

You see luxury cars in the parking lot driven by people who are trying to look poor. You see the same cars at the food bank. I had a poor neighbor that I would take shopping. We'd pull up in my work truck and park amid Cadillacs, Mercedes, and Audis.

Looking at this device.
Thought,," what would I use it for?".
Got it for security on the mower shed but I've got that building very secure. Windows are screwed shut. Every door but one is screwed shut too.
So I'm thinking I'd put it up at the launch so I can see who launches when and pattern the competition.
1673432933805272750154931978284.jpg

Put it up where I can see the gauge.
That's the toughest question and nobody ever can say what it's at even if you ask. Most aren't even aware that there is a gauge.
It was at 5.5 last time I looked

If the gauge is at 2 and you look....water is coming into the wma from the refuge. At 5.5 water from the wma is going into the refuge.
The refuge was flooded so bad that water in the dam overflow backed up into the lake. 5.5...

This caught my eye.
As a kid I had brothers.
My little brother Brian is in Katy Texas. One of the California transplants.
Mama's boy. She bought him every Lego kit there was for 4 decades and I bet he actually has this toy.
I used to step on a Lego, get angry, and destroy his crazy Lego complex. He'd rebuild and within a few weeks.
I step on Lego. Hulk mad. Hulk smash.

I would enjoy it tremendously if we'd all pitch in the 193 euros so I could "destroy the UN" in a youtube video.

Bad idea. For that kinda loot I could drive to Texas and pay to hunt

I’ve never tried the chili magic. This one is decent with a can of rotel and red kidney beans added along with ground chuck.

Sigh. Most likely we get more of Jimmy and Plainsman.
The traffic is them adding on more proxies.
This is the time of total and complete hatred of all other waterfowlers. Ppl are e-scouting trying to figure out where to pile into for a last hunt of the season.

To the e-scouters: pull up satellite imagery and find the snow line.
If it's duck season there...head that way.

This one should have its own thread but I just can't.

Remembering things.

Remember when if you drove at night your windshield would be completely covered in nasty dead moths?
I'd go fishing or something and the entire front end of the truck would be bugs.

Not anymore. Am I the only one noticing just how good today's farmers are at killing bugs?
Amazing.

I can drive an entire teal season and conservation goose too and not have to clean the windshield.
That's three weeks in September here.
You can try all you want and not kill an actual teal.
Wigiteal, rainbow teal, and I ain't shot a mallateal yet.

Who all has been checked where this season?
I tried to get Matt to look at my license and he said he trusts me. Later he added that they're checking people afield. They must've missed me.
I haven't seen a gw in illinoiz in 3 seasons.
2 weeks to flatten the curve.
I see them a lot on the NWR and WMA.
In ten years I've had a gw in a boat show up once at big lake. I knew him too. Quick look at licenses and he left. They have really nice boats and can just pop up on you.

I’ve only been checked once in my life, and I didn’t have a current fishing license. I was fishing in Colyell Bay, Port Vincent, LA back in the mid nineties. I now have a Louisiana lifetime combo license. IIRC, it was a $50 fine and the agent said I could continue fishing because he wouldn’t check me again that day, mighty nice of him. All the times I’ve hunted Tunica Hills WMA and Maurepas swamp WMA, I’ve never seen an agent. I have seen a state biologist collecting deer skulls at the checkpoints before.

Was not easy but I found something that supports the theory that we've destroyed humanity over and over several times.
Hecklefish again?
 soiled himself in the fish bowl.

There is a young female geologist from Michigan that has a channel. She has uncovered evidence that Michigan was a desert and not in the far north at one time in the past. It's very interesting how they determine this from the crystal formation in lava.
It Orients north-south because magnetism.
The lava in Michigan tells a story.
When volcanoes in Michigan erupted Michigan was somewhere else? Fascinating

The hecklefish character is brilliant. It allows the host to alert viewers to not politically correct material without breaking YT guidelines and getting in trouble for it.
It's a deflection mechanism
Brilliant

This thing is right occasionally.
It had large flaky crystals until I moved it to the light.
It snowed for about 5 hours this morning.
Anybody else got one of these?
