Duck Hunting tips and tricks.

Another tip. Some of you may disagree but I will pull the plug at the boat ramp while the boat is on the ramp. Will pull the rig up to the waters edge and then drain the boat back into the lake. It's a habit I've been doing ever since I had my first duck boat.

Why? Up north where I started hunting sometimes you go when it's below freezing and it stays that way for days or weeks. Any water that gets left in the boat from the dog jumping in and out will turn solid if I don't get it out immediately. I have a place where I stick the plug and it won't fall out or get lost. Spare ones too.

i've got one carolina skiff that has honestly never had a plug in it. ever.

we only get commons on the lake close by, may travel some this year to shoot some grassies tho

90% of what I shoot are commons. During the spawn in the right spots we averaged a fish in the boat every 3 minuets with 3 guys. The Saginaw bay is infested with em.

thats awesome. our best night last year was 55 with at least a dozen pull offs. i consider that pretty damn good for here. i tried to put the pics up but they were too large.

they are made with foam in the bottom that is completely closed in with fiberglass. has a little bilge in the back that is about 12" x 12", 9" deep. any water that gets on the deck runs to the back, into the bilge and out the drain hole.

I get it. I read buffies statement "its never had a plug in" to mean a plug has never been inserted into the drain hole. Not "it doesn't have a drain hole". My layout doesn't have a drain plug either.

your not going to believe this, but it really is true





it has three drain holes, one on each side and one in the middle. i've got the ones on each side drilled out to fit a 2" plug so that any water that comes in over the bow can get out quicker.

Here's a REALLY good pointer. PRO-GUIDES taught me.

well if you spend the money for all the shit, the gas, the time, and then it all works out and you end up filling the boat full of fish with your buds, you can atleast take the time to take a picture

when i was younger and fishing with an older buddy, we would take the carp we shot and trade them to a low grade chinese restaurant in exchange for dinner. been a long time tho
