In my field getting to the top is not necessary to live comfortably.
I have seen what getting to the top does to people and I have seen most of them decide it wasn't worth and choose to drop back to middle management.
I would rather be happy during the prime of my life than in my 40s.
plus I'm going to marry a rich lady.
Lucky for me my line of work didn't take that long to get there. Just get enough sea time and go take a test to get the next grade up in license. Now at the ripe old age of 26, I'm sitting back fat and happy building my pension and working towards being done with work before 50.
That's a good deal! My plan is to quit it by 50, but only time will tell.
