This may be a stupid question, but with all the technology in those things, why can't you just plug it into a computer and download directly from the cloud? Seems awfully 1998 to have to wait for actual software.

But like I said, I've never had one.

You can for many programs but I as well like to hold the software card instead of the info floating around out there in cyber space.
