Think how much money you could save if you only had to buy one box of ammo every 2-3 years!

I bought 4 boxes last year and didn't even use one. It was saddening.

I shot 40 something birds last year and went through just shy of 2 cases.

Nuff stop telling people that!

I'm fucking proud of that...It took me 3 cases for 20 the year before.

I do shoot a lot of cattails when the birds don't fly though. And I don't like to chase cripples.

I have enough stuff to load 3 cases this year. My plan is to not burn them all up. But I'm gonna start a bit more diver hunting, so we will see.

In my area there are rice fields left fallow with only weed control discing , summers heat and no water is taking its toll !
With refuges having water along with clubs ( willing to pay the price of pumping ) , this year will be like the old days with
birds rafting on the lakes ( San Luis res ) or to the Eastern mountain lakes along with hiding in the closed zones . It will be
who is under these flyways that will have a chance to be successful......as long as there's a season ?

OH , and what about shooting with a dust mask on , is that too in your plans ?
We're All hoping for the best season ( or any season ) as water is running out in most areas so let it rain ,
before the water board shuts down all pumping......with Big fines and lost of water-rights ?

Just praying for the best for everyone !

And they will get to the pumps just give them time.
My buddy's family has had riparian water rights on their river property four five generations over 150 years and he was told he may loose them.

Dear 3200

I feel it is my job to inform you this thread is no longer about the drought or decomp water. The thread has evolved into a discussion of Nuff's poor shooting ability.

In the future I hope you will be able to keep up and evolve with the progression of the thread.

Sincerely
Boot

I've narrowed it down to either the gun, or the schoolgirl reaction I get when a flock of birds comes in.
I'm getting a Benelli next month, so I shouldn't miss anymore.

We're all guilty of the schoolgirl reaction from time to time. My most recent one was on a flock of snows this spring. Was actually 3 guys guilty of it, we had about 25 snows pour right into the kill hole about 25 yards out and when all the shots were fired there was only a lone cripple to be had. We got our shit together after that and ground out a 35 bird day.
To achieve success, one must possess dedication, passion and a boatload of decoys.

Speaking of schoolgirl reactions, I wish you guys could've seen me when that merg came in and I dropped it, thinking it was a pintail. Mother of God, it's a miracle I didn't break something or hurt myself. Or drown in 8 inches of water.

I called in a flock of 9 geese last September. The first ever real flock I got to work...and it was beautiful. They all locked up right for the hole and when 4 or 5 touched the water 20 yards out I called the shot. It was me my dad and my buddy. Me and my buddy could see them the hole time, but my dad could not. When I called the shot me and my buddy opened up. My dad stayed sitting and only had a small path through the cattails he could see. Me and my buddy each shot 2 times before my dad could see one. Then one passed 15 yards in front of him and he folded it. (This was his first goose hunt and first goose) by this time me and my buddy were empty and the geese that had landed were just getting moving again. I grabbed for a 4th and I got it James in just in time for the last one to fly across the same path the one my dad killed. Got the bead on just in time for my dad to shoot and fold it. (Only his second shot) Now it's all over and I look to the water to see 2 dead geese 15 yards in front of my dad and 0 anywhere else.
He also shot another single later on. I did manage one, but I still never hear the end of that one.

I still remember calling you out on that :lol::lol::lol:

The wood duck is my 'white wale'. Always wanted one of the little bastards on the wall. Never could score one at any of my regular spots so my buddy took me on a river hunt where I could easily get one. At first light a pair lites the deeks nice and close, my buddys hang back so I can pick up an easy double. Three shots and a bunch of 'what the fuck?!'s' later and not even a feather.
