All I know is I kill way more than 30 ducks per season, and thats a fact. Jack.

Not me. I never get tired of deer. Hell, if it was legal to hunt cows, that's what I'd do 90% of the time.

Cows are awesome. You feed a family, I feed myself, 1 deer will last me a year. Of course that is along with all other critters I kill.

If you shot a cow your freezer would be full, no need to put 90% of your time into it. They wouldn't be like those little white tail you shoot where you net 27# of meat per kill.

Haven't shot a deer in 8 years, heading west ib Sept for a blackpowder muley this year. Our population has really dropped over last few years, blue tongue has killed a lot.

You're actually a fuzz low. Average is closer to 40#, but some years it's gone as low as 30#. But still, at $7 a pound, that's a lot of cash.

1 deer doesn't last us 2 months. Last year, we (Dad, brother, uncle, me) got 11 deer in a week. 5 in 1 day. It's July and we're out of deer and and almost out of elk meat.

I couldn't give two shits how many birds you kill (I don't believe you, for what it's worth), but a kid who kills 30 birds a year probably doesn't have anything to add amongst a group of men that likely average over 100 birds a year between them. That's like me telling Dan how to kill divers because I shot a Can on the NCH last year.
To achieve success, one must possess dedication, passion and a boatload of decoys.

I will admit that I'm not a hardcore water fowler. But like Jarbo saying to fill up the freezer with goose meat. I couldn't shoot enough geese in 3 years to equal 700 pounds of meat. Sorry but it ain't happening.
Considering I went out for a total of only 6 days before big game season started, then after that maybe a total of 5-6 days. So I hunting at most 12 days of a duck season that last roughly two and a half months. Now I guess it's time for me to GTFO for not being a die hard water fowler.

I'm not a die hard water fowler. As much as this hurts, I agree with you, Rex Chapman. I would throw all of my waterfowling stuff (shotgun included) into a goddamn fire right now if it meant I could go archery elk hunting this fall.

If it's an option, elk fills the freezer faster and fuller. It takes a shit wad of birds to add to an elk or deer for that matter.
Now antelope, 10-15 large honkers are about the same as an antelope but, I'd rather eat the antelope. I like goose meat but, I'd rather eat elk or antelope before waterfowl. Now, throw in some pheasant or grouse, the whole thing changes.

I'd never trade 60 days of non-stop action for a week of hoping things line up just so.

This.
I have killed elk. I really love elk meat and hearing a big bull bugle 20 yards away will get your heart thumping like nothing else, but, I love to hunt more than anything and I can wake up and drive 30 minutes or 9 hours for 90 days a year and go hunt. Water fowling is hands down passion número uno for me.

I wouldn't trade 107 days for a week. I get asked all the time how I can spend the money I do on a lease. For me it's easy. I get 70 or 80 days depending on the harvest of hunting for the cost of a week long deer/elk trip in Montana. Plus I love duck hunting far more then big game. You can argue the logistics of how much meat you get out of one or the other but that's just dumb. It's 2014, hunt what you like, eat it, and if you run out go to the fucking grocery store for fucks sake! We don't live in frontier land, even Assa eats a taco 12 pack once in a while.
