I'm on the St. Lawrence, one of the cleanest rivers in the world. I would eat one if prepared for me.

I see guys all the time who have trouble with their boats not starting. Most of the time it's poor battery maintenance imo.
I have to pull-start my little Evinrude so I keep it running in tip-top condition.
My starter is busted but the charging system still works. I still put a charger on my battery every chance I get out of habit.
Tip of the day: Plug it in and it'll start tomorrow morning. Remember to un-plug or you drive off with the charger in tow.

Another battery related tip- even if you buy a brand new battery, pop the caps off and top off the water. New batteries only come about 2/3 full. Even if it says "do not remove", I pry them off and fill up. Get about double the life out of them.

Great tip. Them deep cycle batteries are 'spensive as **** and it HURTS to buy one.

Carry a spare serpentine belt in the truck and tools to fix it. Could save a hunt.
I keep the old one in my door panel pocket with the wrenches.

If you have a battery distributer near you get your batteries from there. Ask for blemish batteries. I get all my batteries from the interstate battery warehouse. Got 2 marine deep cycles for $120.

I'm trying to pull off a REALLY good trick and may need some pointers.
How am I going to pull off being a resident in one state while living in another?

I spend about 3-4 months/year in Arkansas. I'm slowly edging towards moving there but the wife, daughter, and grandbaby have roots in Illinois.
Paying out the azz for the ooser license and parking my truck at WMA's with ooser plates...has to end somehow.

Any tips or tricks?

Get an Arky DL. Use somebody's address. Don't get pulled over in IL. Steal plates, and only put on your truck when you park it to hunt.

Legally speaking... You can't!
You are a resident of the state you spend the majority of your time in, if you have a home in two states.
You and your wife simply have to spend a few more months outside Illinois.

So how does a senator or representative live in Washington for several years and still have residency in their home-state come election time? Good question.
Who keeps a log of the hours spent out of state?

Where I hunt is right on the state line between Mo. And Ar. Lots of ooser hunters. Arkansas has to love collecting all the extra loot.
I sleep in Mo. and hunt in Ar. sometimes.
Some of the guys suggested I should get Mo. license in case I get stopped coming back to camp. PROVING WHERE I shot the ducks might become an issue. Mo money? Yer kidding me?

Waterfowl don't even know these lines exist.

The way for me to become an Ar resident on paper is easy. Not legal but ya have to get caught before it's illegal. Getting caught means confessing. NEVER confess. Make them prove it.

What I been told is to simply pay for one single delivery of propane to someone's residence in Arkansas. The bill is a utility bill and is proof of residence. I take the bill to the Driver's License place and simply get a new license and whalla. I'm an Arkansas resident.
IT IS THAT EASY!

To get a resident hunting licence this fall I have to do this NOW. The law says you have to be a resident at least 6 months prior to buying your first resident hunting license. I wonder how it works if I come in and am only 5 months and two weeks?
I guess I buy an ooser license still.

I'm not going to do all this to save a couple Benjamins but it sure is tempting.

Not sure y'all hunt OOS.
To demonstrate why I'm interested in this fake residency...
It's $25/year for a resident license. It comes with 4 deer tags and two turkey.
You still have to buy an $8 stamp for waterfowl. Then you're good to go. ANY species pretty much.
It's $25 to get a guide license for residents.

For an OOSER...I don't even want to talk about how much it would cost for 4 deer tags, 2 turkey tags, duck stamps and the works. You WILL get sticker shock if I did.
I only hunt waterfowl and get a small game variety annual license that is $80. $100 annual WMA permit for OOS, $30 duck stamp, $150 guide license. Add that up. That's too much BOB! I forgot about the Federal duck stamp but we all accept that.
Close to $400 for a license to kill waterfowl.

You will have to turn in your IL license to do this. So you better not get pulled over in IL.

I know you can't have two licenses. It's like you are saying an Ar. license is only good in Ar and not Ill.?

What about the other 48 states? Stay outa them too? Are you startin to notice I'm extra argue (y) today?

I've met I don't know how many people who live in Mexico and work in Illinois. They are Illinois residents and have Illinois licenses too.

I'll just tell everyone I'm originally from Chihuahua and just visiting the country. My new name is Miguel Rios. I AM Mexican. Just stay out of arizona, right?

Sometimes you don't have a lot of sense. You can do whatever you want, won't hurt my feelings a bit. But the flaw in your plan is that you must turn in your IL license. If that doesn't matter, why didn't you just do what you were going to do years ago? And have fun paying the non-resident hunting and fishing license fees in IL, with your AR license  Seems like 6 of one, half dozen of the other, if you ask me.

Duck hunting tip #43.5

If you are hunting with a shitty dog that cannot mark a duck and you have to show the dog where the duck is, fill an empty shell with mud so that you can throw it further in the direction of the dead or crippled bird.

When it is sho nuff cold and you are hunting the next day, be sure to put your hip boots/chest waders in the house to keep them warm, and in the cab of your truck for the trip to the launch. Putting on cold ass boots first thing in the morning is not pleasant, and will start the "my damn feet are freezing" sooner than you'd care to admit it
